Ebbing Bag - Fuchsia / Chartreuse

$389.00

Just as much a sculpture as it is a bag, the Ebbing Bag is modelled off of the sculptural forms that Kate created for KATALYST’s showcase in Sydney from earlier this year, titled Parallel Frames.

Kate’s three sculptures from the showcase distorted the traditional mannequin silhouette to explore how the use of standardised body shapes in design affects our perception of the normative body.

The handle of the Ebbing bag is a mini rendition of the technique Kate used to form the sculptures, weaving 100% cotton jersey fabric strips around moulded wire.

A buttery 100% chartreuse makes up the main section of the bag, shirred in swirling lines not unlike that of the Emergence Bandeau/Skirt.

While certainly not laptop-friendly, this piece is perfect for the bare essentials needed for an event, or a light trip out.

The Ebbing Bag is a true statement piece and encapsulates many of the design choices that brought the RS27 collection to life.

Made in Magandjin (Brisbane)

Available for preorder now - ships November 6th 2026.

Parallel Frames brings together two key pillars of KATALYST —conceptual sculpture and ready-to-wear garments — positioning them in conversation and allowing each practice to inform the other. Our RS27 collection, Parallel Frames is a result of this dialogue.

Parallel Frames distorts the traditional mannequin silhouette to explore how the use of standardised body shapes in design affects our perception of the normative body. Three abstract forms reminiscent of bodily shapes were made from wire and fabric offcuts and became dress forms that were draped upon to develop RTW styles. The design process for each garment begins here, and was then fitted on the human body and adjusted, going back and forth in a conversation between constructed forms and natural ones.
