Asymmetric panel lines give a graceful flow to the textured surface of the Tipping Point Skirt in Lilac Towelling.
Made from 40% hemp and 60% organic cotton, this textile is soft to the touch and a comfortable choice for the warmer seasons.
Split into three main front panels, this skirt curves up the thigh and down onto each leg at varying lengths, creating the handkerchief hem silhouette that is so signature to KATALYST. Multiple smaller side panels create voluminous gathering.
The Tipping Point Skirt is informed by the ‘Legs’ piece from Parallel Frames, the absurd sculpture series that Kate developed to drape and design the collection on. Panel shapes have been directly drawn on to fit the sculpture, resulting in the asymmetric darts and panel lines which wrap around the body.
An adjustable lilac cotton/nylon tie at the waist allows for a flexible fit.
Pair with the Shoulders Halter top in Lilac Towelling to achieve the full look.
Made in Magandjin (Brisbane)
Available for preorder now - ships November 6th 2026.
Parallel Frames brings together two key pillars of KATALYST —conceptual sculpture and ready-to-wear garments — positioning them in conversation and allowing each practice to inform the other. Our RS27 collection, Parallel Frames is a result of this dialogue.
Parallel Frames distorts the traditional mannequin silhouette to explore how the use of standardised body shapes in design affects our perception of the normative body. Three abstract forms reminiscent of bodily shapes were made from wire and fabric offcuts and became dress forms that were draped upon to develop RTW styles. The design process for each garment begins here, and was then fitted on the human body and adjusted, going back and forth in a conversation between constructed forms and natural ones.
